Old Pear tree

I married an engineer. An engineer that believes in hard work and good old Yankee ingenuity. So when he decided the tree needed to come down who do you suppose was recruited to do it?Himself and his 2 sons that's who. The neighbors huge, continuing to grow, oak tree damaged it first... our poor Bradford pear did not get enough sun. Then in 2008 Hurricane Ike took out a major branch (it fell right in front of the garage!). February 2010 saw the rest of the tree down.
The inside of the logs, when cut up, is orange.
We still have some of the branches just in case the scouts need them for any Pioneering projects (that's lashing tall structures for us laymen.)
