more Christmas quilts

I forgot the one on my bed. A Trip Around the World; this was a real headache. In the close up you can see the snowman's heads; a directional print that meant the fabric needed to be cut lengthwise. I cut them all lengthwise and found that the quilt was actually easier to sew. I was cutting merrily along and discovered I had cut most of the quilt at 2.5 inches instead of the 3.5 the plan was for. So I got to replan it at 2.5. I really like the smaller size squares but it did send me back to the drawing board and worried me a great deal. All of this quilt was made from my 'stash'. The back is a fun snowman and mitten print that I got dirt cheap after Christmas one year, I wish I'd photographed it. I started it in 1998 and finished the quilting in 2004. (I started it when I had a new baby, a toddler, a preteen and 3 teenagers, one of them sick with cancer, so I put it away until 2004 when I finished piecing it and quilted it.) It is FINISHED!

This quilt is not a Christmas quilt but is one of Liz's favorites and it was downstairs and the boy's were already on the roof so I thought no would complain about it being here. It is a Rail Fence block exchange quilt. This went to the hospital with Brian every time he was admitted. Mostly quilted in the ditch. There are a few diagonal leaves in some of the blocks. The back is a black print of swing dancers, that was given me by Robbie about 20 years ago. It is finished.
