retreat and Liz's wedding quilt

I'm back from my quilting retreat. I left Thursday morning and sewed and shopped until Sunday about 11. It was fun to be with a group of women who love to sew as much as I do. I used the time to recharge my quilting battery. I was a little down after finishing The Triangle Madness Quilt and needed something to get me going on my next quilt; Starburst; another challenging quilt. Judi Niemeyer does not do simple patterns and this is one of hers. It will be King size; without even thinking of the border, which is also paper pieced, this quilt takes 240 triangle blocks. I have 90 made after working all weekend on it. I did fast forward on the pattern to get a portion put together for the show-n-tell on Saturday night. Here are 36 of them together.
Notice that the blue and green star has 12 points that are supposed to meet in the center! The designer has a great website with many patterns. this link will take you to a page there that shows this quilt in a unique way; it changes colors as you look at it; kind of like Cinderella's dress! I'm looking forward to getting it done.....maybe by the New Year!
