Texas Star

We've been out of town for a week; went to a family reunion where my Mother gave away the 22 quilts she has made in the last 15 or so years. One to each grandchild. I got to come home with 2; one for each of my at home children. I have custody until said children are responsible enough to take care of a hand quilted quilt....not while in college I know....after marriage? Maybe after I train their wives in the 'care and feeding of quilts'.
This is Jeffrey's. It is also well liked my other members of the family. It is hand pieced and hand quilted; with MANY blocks fussy cut.
This is Andrew's. Love, Love, Love pinwheels. Didn't have 2 people around to hold it so you get to see Andrew too. He's singing the song he made up to go with it; 'the great and mighty pinwheel.'
It was my idea (and I'm not very popular now) to have each recipient sing a song. They had lots of help and the came up with songs that pertained to their quilt.
Two wrote their own; 1 to the tune of 10 little Indians...which was appropriate since that quilt was Indian-ish.
1 little 2 little 3 little fussy cuts
4 little 5 little 6 little fussy cuts....
and Andrew's pinwheel which just had the opening 2 lines done...
Actually very few actually finished their songs although some of the blackberries came in handy for the words.
It was fun.

edit My niece has better pictures of the reunion and lots more quilts.

love the singing idea. it was lovely overall even if every person didn't want to independently.

Eric really liked the idea too. Of course I couldn't figure out why we were doing it, kind of an original way to say thank you I guess!
