Rainbow Pillow ---OPAM

I 'finished' the pillow just in time for St. Patrick's Day. It's in quotes since I'm not happy with the pillow form. I like my pillows firmly stuffed. The pillow turned out to be 17 x 15; no pillow forms are that size. I've made my insert but it may be a couple days before I make it to a store and this had to be out before St. Patrick's Day.
Notice that I managed to use rick rack AND ball fringe. I really like the repetition of the round buttons and the round ball fringe.

Thanks to Kyla, at funky polka dot giraffe, for the design inspiration and my sister for some of the buttons. Kyla posted a bunch of rainbow projects from food to decor last week and my pillow was one of her links. Thanks, I think that is a first for me!

Okay, I heard you, you want to see the back. I usually use buttons on the back...this time I didn't. Why? Cause I didn't want to change the thread on the sewing machine! I had pink bobbin thread and no white thread handy. So I used a zipper.

Here's a tutorial on how to insert a zipper behind a flap...it actually isn't the way I did it but pretty close. (I think a rainbow of larger buttons would have been cute....oh well maybe Lynn will do that.)

Such a fun pillow. Ellie would love it. She is all girl and into rainbows so maybe I'll have to give it a try, but probable less fancy.
