I learned of a wedding shower theme today and it has caused me to think. (Unusual, I know.) the invitation says to think of a favorite movie and bring a gift that goes with the movie. (Don't actually bring the movie.) And popcorn and bowl is a cop-out ;). So I came up with;
Return to Me-popcorn, dog food? coupons for pizza?
Sleepless in Seattle-apple parer, radio,
While you Were Sleeping-sheets, pillow, Christmas decorations, globe
Basically I don't think I see enough movies and am not very good at this creative gift giving.
What are your ideas?

Depends a lot on the recipient. Here's some ideas off the top of my head:
Psycho: shower stuff - shower gels, soaps, etc.
James Bond: (if they're drinkers) a coctail kit, playing cards, evening bag
Casablanca: one of those Moroccan style lanterns
It's a wonderful life: bell ornament, angel ornament
Singing in the rain: umbrella
The last Samurai: set of chopsticks etc.
Chocolat: lots of chocolate
The good, the bad and the ugly: some random gifts - one nice, one completely inappropriate and one ugly...
Any help?
