Walking is a form of torture

I've been telling myself since July that as soon as the weather was not 98 degrees I would start walking. Meanwhile in September I started swimming, I worked up to 1/2 mile...that felt good, a bit of a twinge of pain but nothing much. Swimming outside is no longer pleasant so I should start walking, right? Saturday was the day. We went to the park since if I walked around the neighborhood it would be too easy to stop when I got tired. So I walked .97 mile; I still gave out and took a small shortcut so I could get to the car sooner.
Oh my. I was so sore Saturday night I could not get to sleep. For some reason the top of my feet get very sore when I walk.  I used 2 walking sticks to walk with so Sunday my arms were sore too. Good grief, this is torture.
So I am lacing up my shoes to do it again.
Quilt Festival is just a few short weeks away....

Normal or Nuts?

Reader's Digest had an article about me last month...well not exactly, but the title was, 'Normal or Nuts' and the last example was me to a T. I hate going on high over-passes. I will go to the next exit if I suspect the one I'm supposed to go on goes high into the sky. Evidently I'm not the only one. Last week I went, with a friend, on a high overpass, accidentally, and am alive to tell you about it. But I think Reader's Digest erred and I should have been mentioned again:
On Wednesday I visited a few quilt shops on Houston Area Quit Shop Hop and was given a new water bottle; On Friday I put it in my purse with the pop open. Since my purse is that lovely fake leather; vinyl, I had an inch of water in my purse in my friends car. On Saturday morning I put it in my purse again; with the top open.....Then Saturday afternoon I DID IT AGAIN! Each time I had about an inch of water to dump and a bunch of papers to dry; knitting, and money. I have my wallet emptied and spread over the front seat of the car now to dry out.
That's 3 times in 2 days. Does anyone else do things like that?

Don't fall; advice you really needed.

This is the second day since my fall...that's right I didn't tell everyone yet. I fell.
I've always known that our floors were slick when wet but I've managed to stay upright for 12 years. Yesterday I was fixing dinner at 11 a.m.; my daughter in law was moping the breakfast room. I finished and forgot the floor was wet. Bam; I went down; no tears but it was close. No sharp pain after a few minutes so I figured and the Dr. that I called figured that I didn't break my hip but my back still aches; I have a bruise on my wrist where I caught my self and I got a headache from my spine jarring my brain...I guess, since I didn't hit my head.
The Dr. said to take it easy and apply heat. Heat helps but then you NEED ice-cream to cool you back down.
The plan was to start a customer quilt today....can't stand that long so I'll start it in a few days.

snowflakes

Do you remember my bedroom? I blogged a photo here. We could play a game...what is different in this photo from the last photo...okay we won't play the game (party pooper) I'll tell you that I made a dust ruffle that coordinates with the quilt and moved a pillow from the couch to the bed AND moved the foot locker (just for the picture though).

Hey, do you see what I see?
Look closer over on my dresser.

There do you see it? The snowflake bracelet!
Not that one ....that's my new one; Look on the jewelry tree.

BINGO!
I've been looking for it for weeks! I wore them BOTH today.

exercise guru

Y'all know how important exercise is to maintain or achieve a fit body. I have a new exercise routine out just in time for the holiday season. I started yesterday;
First choose a store; it needs to be big. Enter like you know what you want, forget why you're there, stride up and down in an attempt to have the merchandise jog your memory, decide to leave, as you leave the store remember what you need. It's important for your exercise routine that the item is located in the very back of the store, stride to the item, then purchase it. Enter the parking lot with no memory of having seen it before the intention to continue your exercising by race-walking up and down every aisle looking for until you get to your car. Be sure to repeat this at the next big store so that you will get the full benefit of this exercise routine.

Think how the big stores have contributed to our fitness level! Maybe we should all write them thank-you notes.

found!

I really really wanted to take my polar fleece on our trip to Idaho. I COULD NOT FIND IT ANYWHERE! Let me backtrack a bit. I have 3 dressers. My husband one. So about 2 years ago when he got into exercising and bicycling he needed another space and I unhesitatingly gave him a drawer in one of my dressers. About August this year I bought him a dresser to use as a night stand. (yes, now our bedroom has 4 dressers in it-all full.) He moved all his night stand stuff to the top of his new night stand. Then put NOTHING inside the dresser. I told him that his medications had to go into the top drawer and he grumbled but reorganized his system and filled the top drawer. After 2 months I suggested that I might start filling up the other drawers and he got busy. One drawer got filled with his exercise clothes which gave me back my drawer. I decided that my bulky sweaters, that were in a bin in the closet, should go in my new drawer. That included my polar fleece. Then I forgot about it until this morning.
So, Mom I am wearing it. It is cold here, finally, and it goes with my gray pants and my black pants that I wear when I'm not wearing blue jeans. My blue jeans go with my blue, white and red snowflake sweater that I made that lovely snowflake bracelet to go with. (I have been collecting snowflakes from clearance jewelry- soo if you are on my gift list and you really don't want a bling bling snowflake bracelet let me know otherwise I will make you one in the next couple years.) so should I make a black bracelet? You know I should.

dumb things

Another We all do dumb things entry.
Friday I got home from the grocery store about 5:30. I got the chickens ready to go in the oven. Preheated the oven and forgot to put the chicken in the oven! Then when I walked through the kitchen and saw the chickens I put them in. We would still get to eat about 7:30. An hour later I go and check on the chickens in the oven and they are still COLD! I had preheated the wrong oven, and didn't even notice that there was no warm air coming out when I opened the oven door! So I turned the oven up to 400 and moved the chickens to the lower oven. Which meant we would have sandwiches for dinner but wait we are out of bread! Can't even remember what we ate. I think we just ate apples (I know I cut up one jonagold's) and the boy's and I had been shopping at HEB which give samples and I had bought them a doughnut. Oh yes I guess the boy's had doughnuts for supper!

dumb things

Remember the commercial; We all do dumb things don't let...be one of them? Today I went grocery shopping and came home and forgot the groceries! Two hours later I remembered and got them out of the car. Is this the beginning of Alzheimer's?
I am repairing one of the 9 dresses I made this spring for a wedding. One of the dresses was too tight and I am letting it out. They turned out soo sweet, I don't suppose I can get my 12 year old to model for you... I've asked for a picture of my friends granddaughters all in matching dresses. Luckily all 9 hadn't started developing yet or Im afraid more than 1 would have been tight. (All of the dresses were made without seeing any of the girls.)
